Changes in Applied Force to Atouchpad during Pointing Tasks
نویسنده
چکیده
A touchpad is a common input device for notebook computers. However, pointing performance is poor in comparison with a mouse. This research is motivated by the need to improve the touchpad as an input device -to bring it closer to a mouse in pointing performance. To learn how users operate the touchpad during pointing tasks, we measured the force applied to the touchpad. We also measured the force for the same tasks performed with the mouse.

Comparing Dominant and Non-Dominant Hand Performance with Force Changes In a Two-Hand Equilibrium Task: A Challenge to Dominant Hand Theories
Objective: Although most studies believe that the dominant hand performs better than the non-dominant hand in performing various tasks, there is still the challenge among researchers as to why the non-dominant hand performs better than the dominant hand in certain situations and tasks. The aim of this study was to compare dominant and non-dominant hand performance with force changes in a two-ha...
متن کاملEffects of Impedance Reduction of a Robot for Wrist Rehabilitation on Human Motor Strategies in Healthy Subjects during Pointing Tasks
Studies on human motor control demonstrated the existence of simplifying strategies (namely ‘Donders’ law’) adopted to deal with kinematically redundant motor tasks. In recent research we showed that Donders’ law also holds for human wrist during pointing tasks, and that it is heavily perturbed when interacting with a highly back-drivable state-of-the-art rehabilitation robot. We hypothesized t...
متن کاملThe Kinetics of Athletes with Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction in Neuro-Cognitive Challenge Landing
Neurocognitive motor tasks have been shown to have an effective relationship with athletic performance and musculoskeletal injuries. Cognitive changes following anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction surgery may lead to adverse knee biomechanical changes and an increased risk of secondary injury. This study aimed to compare the kinetics of athletes with a history of ACL reconstruction and th...
متن کاملDesign Issues for an Assistance Service with Force Feedback
This article analyzes and discusses problems related to the design of a force-feedback assistance service (FAS) for human-computer interfaces. FAS is a service which can be applied to human-computer interfaces which utilize a force-feedback pointing device, which guides the user’s hand in order to facilitate direct manipulation tasks: point, select, move and resize. The FAS uses artificial neur...

Background: Job back pain is of the most common occupational injuries in the world that affects people's physical and mental health. The purpose of this study was to assess back compressive force (BCF) in manual handling tasks among workers of a chemical manufacturing company using the UTAH method. Materials and Methods: This descriptive study was carried out on a group of 35 workers doing man...
